Postdoctoral Scholar Position Available in Ultrafast Spectroscopy
An interdisciplinary group of faculty at the University of California, Irvine seeks a postdoctoral scientist.
Our research focuses on the development of ultrafast spectroscopy in combination with scanning probe microscopy to explore the ultrafast behavior of single molecules. This collaborative project is directed by a team of professors including Wilson Ho (Physics), Ara Apkarian (Chemistry), Doug Mills (Physics), Eric Potma (Chemistry), Philip Collins (Physics), and Nien-Hui Ge (Chemistry).
The candidate must have a strong background in ultrafast spectroscopy/microscopy and extensive hands-on experience with femtosecond lasers. The candidate must also possess the ambition to learn more about areas in which they have less expertise. The candidate will carry out research centered in the laboratory of one PI, but also coordinate the activities of multiple graduate students working in each of the PI’s labs. The initial appointment is for one year, and is renewable for up to two additional years.
Interested candidates should send a CV with three letters of recommendation by e-mail to:

Postdoctoral Scholar Position in Nanoelectronic Devices
The Collins research group at University of California, Irvine anticipates hiring one or more postdoctoral scholars for positions beginning immediately. Multiple research opportunities are available in the general field of carbon nanotube electronic devices. Specifically, we investigate the interplay of electronic behavior with chemical modifications and are studying dynamic interactions relevant to single molecule biosensing. More information on our activities is available at www.physics.uci.edu/~collinsp/ and http://www.chem.uci.edu/CCI/.
Postdoctoral candidates must have completed a Ph.D. and need not have extensive experience with nanotube electronic devices. Instead, a research background in biofunctionalization and TIRF, near field, or Raman microscopy will be considered advantageous. Annual salary will range from $42,000 - $50,000 depending on applicant's experience. Applicants should send a CV, list of publications, and contact information for three references to:
