Technology Transfer

NSF Center for Chemical Innovation on Chemistry at the Space-Time Limit at UCI
CaSTL Logo

The CaSTL Center develops novel optical and molecular computational technologies. These technologies are disseminated in the following way:

Newport Logo

Newport Corporation

Many of the optical technologies developed in the CaSTL laboratories find their way to the Technology and Applications Center of Newport Corporation. In collaboration with CaSTL researchers and engineers, Newport scientists develop optical devices such as a Raman and imaging modules for commercial use.

Turbomole

Turbomole is a software package that provides one of the most efficient electronic structure codes, and is constantly updated based on the latest developments in density functional theory (DFT), and time dependent DFT. Turbomole is partly developed by Filipp Furche of CaSTL. The Center intends to significantly expand the further development and dissemination of Turbomole.

Density Functional Theory (DFT)

The Burke group website is used worldwide as a resource for DFT development and pedagogy, including the online book, the ABC of DFT, and the PBE and now, PBEsol, subroutines.
