Teacher Workshop 2005
Our first annual Summer Teacher Training Workshop was held at UC Irvine July 11-22, 2005. Part of our AirUCI charter is to share our research findings not only with the scientific community, but with the community at large. This workshop was a fun way to accomplish that goal.
AirUCI presented an intensive Environmental Chemistry program that was open to science teachers at community colleges and in grades 7-12. Participants heard morning lectures from the AirUCI team and conducted afternoon environmental analysis projects. In addition, each participant was paired with an AirUCI researcher who will act as a resource to the teachers for the upcoming school year as the teachers bring what they learned to their classrooms and share information with their colleagues.
In addition, the teachers who attended the workshop will be submitting their lessons to us so that they are available as a resource to other schools.
