In 1999 the facility received funding from the NSF CRIF program for the design and construction of a pico-second OPO system. The construction will be completed by the end of the year 2000.

The facility has recently received from the same program funding for an OLIS RSM Circular Dichroism spectrometer. It will be available in Autumn 2000. Recently, van der Veer received funding through the NSF atmospheric program for constructing a Ti:Sapphire nano-second laser system and fiber optic beam delivery system.
