In the transient difference spectra below, the increase due to formation of reduced Fe^IIMb, as well as the corresponding bleach due to loss of Fe^IIIMb, are within the timescale of the laser pulse (ca. 10 ns).  The transient traces show that the back electron transfer, regenerating the starting Fe^IIIMb, is ca. 2 x 10⁷ sec^-1.
