Chemistry learning tools include Mastering Chemistry (MC) and Guided Instructional Activities (GIA).

Mastering Chemistry (MC) Mastering Chemistry (MC) is a Web-delivered instructional software program designed for use in beginning chemistry courses.  It is self-paced and can be used for assessment or for exploratory learning. It covers the material normally treated in General Chemistry.  It has two levels of treatment, General  Chemistry and Introductory Chemistry.  The Introductory Chemistry level is appropriate for the introductory college course as well as secondary school chemistry.  The General Chemistry level is appropriate for college as well as for advanced placement secondary school courses.  For more information visit the Web-site.

Guided Inquiry  Activities (GIA) Guided Instructional Activities (GIA) are active-learning pedagogies that incorporate the use of chemical data to assist students in learning key concepts in chemistry.  A GIA can be used as a means to introduce concepts that are new to the student or to provide an opportunity for students to apply newly learned chemical principles to problems and processes that are known to be difficult for them to master.  GIA's take about 20-30 minutes of class time during which students work either in pairs or in small groups.  GIA's do not necessarily require the use of computers.
