Guided
Instructional Activities (GIA) are active-learning pedagogies that
incorporate the use of chemical data to assist students in learning key
concepts in chemistry. A GIA can be used as a means to introduce
concepts that are new to the student or to provide an opportunity for students
to apply newly learned chemical principles to problems and processes that
are known to be difficult for them to master. GIA's take about 20-30
minutes of class time during which students work either in pairs or in
small groups. GIA's do not necessarily require the use of computers. |
