General Functions and Scope

The Technical Market Research Intern for R.D. Abbott Company, Inc., (RDA) will focus on creating a cross-reference data set for competitive silicone products to current supplier offerings. Additionally, they will focus on creating a comprehensive list of all competitive products available in the marketplace.

Essential Functional Areas of Responsibilities

  • Analyze RDA and competitive product lines to generate a cross-reference database
  • Create a comprehensive list of all competitive products
  • Research and map out the Rubber Industry: polymer manufacturers, distribution channels, mixers, converters, sub-tiers, and OEMs by market
  • Research and map out silicone manufacturers worldwide
  • Assist in the completion of mapping out worldwide silicone manufacturers
  • Any other duties assigned by supervisor

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory duties.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • Technical studies at an accredited college/university in Chemistry, Engineering, or Material Science preferred
  • Data entry experience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure—using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent; and to interpret graphs
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out detailed written, or oral instructions
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Ability to use database, Internet, spreadsheet, and word processing software
