Humboldt State University’s Department of Chemistry invites applications for an academic year tenuretrack faculty position in all areas of Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, or closely-related fields.

RANK, SALARY AND BENEFITS: We seek to fill this position at the Assistant Professor rank; however, rank and salary are dependent on the appointee's qualifications and experience. PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: An earned Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, or a closely-related field from an accredited college or university is required at time of appointment. The focus of an individual's research specialization is open to all relevant areas of physical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, materials science, chemical education, environmental chemistry, or other field that complements research within the College of Natural Resources and Sciences.

The successful candidate must demonstrate the following:

  • Ability to successfully teach undergraduate courses in the General Chemistry sequence including laboratory sections;
  • Ability to successfully teach undergraduate lecture courses in the Physical and/or Inorganic Chemistry sequences;
  • Ability to successfully teach undergraduate Physical and/or Inorganic Chemistry laboratory sections, including maintaining, troubleshooting, and coordinating time on instruments and experiments;
  • Potential for effective teaching or teaching experience using a variety of modern pedagogies;
  • Commitment to and/or experience in promoting and fostering a learning environment that is supportive of individuals from diverse backgrounds;
  • Evidence of promise as a teacher at the university level, or appropriate successful teaching experience, or postdoctoral experience; and
  • Record of or potential for research and scholarly activities involving undergraduate students.

Evidence of degree(s) is required at time of hire.
