Hal's History of the UCI Chemistry Department:
I've been around a while (in fact, since the dawn of creation), and I'm trying to put it all down on paper and in pictures.
I obtained my undergraduate education at Colorado State University, receiving a BS in Chemistry on 1959. I then pursued graduate studies at the University of Illinois and was awarded a Ph. D. in Organic Chemistry in 1963. I spent 2 1/2 years as a post doctoral colleague with Karl Folkers at Stanford Research Institute before joining the founding faculty at UCI in the fall of 1965. During my tenure as a faculty member in the Chemistry Department at UCI I served as Chair of the Chemistry Department and Dean of the School of Physical Sciences.
During my service I taught at all levels, published over 200 papers and mentored 44 students to their doctorate degrees.
Please visit the Department History page and email me if you'd like a copy of my latest draft, or have pictures or stories of your own to share on this page.
Hoping you find it worth your time, and please email me with any comments or questions,
