Group Meeting Presentations
- Technical Aspects of 405nm Confocal Raman Spectroscopy given by Ned Branigan on 7/08/08
- Ned tells us about the setup of his experiment, as well as giving some useful information about some particular types of optics and about laser modes.
- CBC-STM given by Joonhee Lee on 7/29/08
- This talk gives a basic overview of how a scanning-tunneling microscope works, explains the specific features of the CBC STM, and gives an outline for the coming experiments.
- Liquid He II and IM-He condensates given by Esa Vehmanen on 8/5/08
- Gives some information on superfluid helium and discusses experiments on impurties in liquid helium.
Useful Tools
- Compression Distance Calculator
- A Mathematica program which takes the central wavelength, spectral bandwidth, and pulse length as inputs and gives the distance to separate prisms for best compression.
- Labview program for autocorrelation
- Labview program to run the Ocean Optics spectrometer and calculate FWHM and max wavelength
- NOTE on the last two, they require sub-vis and have settings specific to the system they were designed on, so use with caution.
