James N. Pitts, Jr. has had and continues to have a profound impact on the understanding of atmospheric chemistry.
As co-author of several books and more than 375 scientific articles, he has made innumerable contributions directly to the field.  Indirectly, his influence is even more extensive: over the years, he has mentored and assisted in the development of so many students who are now making their own contributions.
And, as Professor Emeritus at UC Riverside and currently Researcher, UC Irvine, he continues to guide and educate the next generation of atmospheric chemists, as well as influence environmental policy at the state level.
Anyone learning atmospheric chemistry must start by exploring the works of Jim Pitts.
The speakers include :

Ralph Cicerone (Chancellor, UC Irvine)
Hajime Akimoto (Institute for Global Change Research)
Janet Arey (SAPRC, UC Riverside)
Roger Atkinson (SAPRC, UC Riverside)
Jeffrey Gaffney (Argonne National Laboratory)
Ernesto Tuazon (SAPRC, UC Riverside)
Arthur Winer (UC Los Angeles)
F. Sherwood Rowland (UC Irvine)

A poster session will also be held and is open to all symposium attendees.
