Congratulations to Matthew Beaver for being chosen as the first recipient of the Award for Outstanding Thesis Defense in Organic Chemistry. Matthew was selected among organic area graduate students at UC Irvine who defended their thesis during the 2009-2010 academic year. Honorees for the award are selected by fellow graduate students and the award is given based on the quality of the research conducted and pedagogical value of the student's thesis defense.

Lectures will be given by Professor Alexander Alexakis (University of Geneva), Professor Kuiling Ding (Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Professor Tom Hoye (University of Minnesota), Professor Armen Zakarian (University of California, Santa Barbara) and Dr. Jean Cui (Pfizer). The day will also include the 2010 UCI Organic Chemistry Graduate Student Poster Session. Join us for an exciting day of science!
