Research Abstract |
Professor Corn's area of expertise is the study of chemistry at condensed phase interfaces. Specific areas of research include the use of surface plasmon resonance (SPR) to monitor biopolymer adsorption, the chemical modification of surfaces with self-assembled monolayers for the creation of adsorption-based biosensors, the characterization of molecular monolayers at metal surfaces by polarization-modulation FTIR reflection absorption spectroscopy (PM-FTIRRAS), and optical second harmonic generation (SHG) measurements of orientation, organization, and electron transfer processes at liquid/liquid electrochemical interfaces. Prof. Corn also has ongoing research projects in the implementation of DNA computing algorithms at surfaces, and the fabrication of multilayer polyelectrolyte films for ion transport applications. | |
