John Greaves joined the UCI Chemistry Department Staff as Director of the Mass Spectrometry Facility in June 1992. Prior to that in his Ph.D. research, he applied mass spectrometry to the study of the pharmacokinetics of the antimalarial drug primaquine.

Since that time he has continued to utilize mass spectrometry to answer analytical questions; including, five years of cancer research at Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York City, NY and seven years in environmental research with the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA. He has authored over 50 papers and numerous published abstracts.

The other staff member in the Facility is John Mudd. John has been with the facility for several years and primarily operates the magnetic sector instruments. He is happy to help anybody with information on analysis of samples on those instruments and on the operation of the open access instruments.
