Overview:

The Department of Chemistry is pleased to offer a fellowship for the role of Safety Fellow. This position is ideally suited for current or former lab Safety Representatives. The Safety Fellow is a paid position (equal to a 25% GSR) for three quarters (Fall 2023 - Spring 2024), and will provide 50% funding in Summer 2024 to ensure a smooth transition with the next fellow. The time commitment is approximately 10 hours per week.

The Safety Fellow will serve as the leader of the Graduate Safety Team (GTS) and contribute to the Department of Chemistry’s safety culture. Safety Fellows organize, recruit, orient and lead our team of graduate student safety reps (one from each lab), organize informational events, publish a Safety Newsletter, and work on other safety related projects. The Safety Fellow reports to the Chemistry Vice Chair for Safety.
