Micromass QTOF2. (Installation: October 2000) This is a state of the art MS-MS instrument. It is an atmospheric pressure ionization (API) system equipped for both electrospray ionization (ESI) and atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI).

In MS-only mode an orthogonal time of flight analyzer and reflectron provides for a mass range of 20,000 for singly charged ions and capability for exact mass measurement.

In MS-MS mode ion selection and collision occur in a quadrupole analyzer and an rf only quadrupole respectively before the time of flight analyzer. The instrument has an autosampler and "Open Access" software for student operation.
Micromass LCT. This is an atmospheric pressure ionization (API) system equipped for both electrospray ionization (ESI) and atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI). The instrument has an orthogonal time of flight analyzer with a reflectron providing for a mass range of 13,000 for singly charged ions and capability for exact mass measurement. The instrument has an autosampler and "Open Access" software for student operation.
Perseptive Biosystems DE STR. This is a fully equipped MALDI-TOF instrument with 15,000 resolution, reflectron, post source decay, timed ion gate and gas cell. The system is readily learned and operated by students.
Finnigan Trace-MS (two instruments). These are GC-MS systems, one is dedicated to electron ionization (EI) and the other to chemical ionization (CI). These are 1000 amu mass range instruments with differential pumping (CI instrument) that are research grade systems. Both are equipped with autosamplers and "Open Access" software for student operation.
Micromass Autospec. This instrument is a fully equipped high-resolution (60,000) sector instrument with a mass range of 4500 daltons at full acceleration voltage and positive and negative ion detection. Ionization methods include: EI, CI, static and dynamic liquid secondary ion mass spectrometry (LSIMS/FAB), field desorption (FD) and field ionization (FI). Sample introduction is by direct probe and gas chromatography.

 
Micromass 7070. This is a medium resolution (25,000) sector mass spectrometer equipped for EI and CI, LSIMS, positive and negative ion detection and GC-MS.
