2007–2008 marked the inaugural year for the Organic Chemistry Student-Hosted Seminar Series. Each year, a committee of graduate students is convened to select invitees on the basis of suggestions from the graduate student body. Each speaker will visit for a day and a half, and meet with graduate student representatives from each research group. Lunch and dinner will be hosted by students, and the seminar will be hosted and moderated by the committee. Over the years, this seminar series has been generously funded by the UC Irvine School of Physical Sciences Committee on Research, the UCI Department of Chemistry, Genentech, and Novartis. For 2013–2014, individual speakers will be funded by Genentech, Novartis, and Sigma–Aldrich. We express our incredible gratitude to all supporters of this valuable program.
