Abstract:

This talk will focus on a metabolite responsive nanoparticle-protein complex and developing a polymer membrane for water purification.  The first half will discuss the development of a polymer hydrogel nanoparticle containing a known inhibitor for the enzyme lactate dehydrogenase that is specifically responsive to the cancer metabolite lactate.  The second half delves into the challenges posed by using a polymer of intrinsic microporosity for size exclusion of viruses and other freshwater biological contaminants.
