The Chemistry Department at Pacific Lutheran University is searching for a tenure-track Assistant Professor for the 2021-2022 academic year. Pacific Lutheran University, located 40 miles south of Seattle in suburban Tacoma, enrolls approximately 3100 students and purposefully integrates the liberal arts and professional programs.

We seek candidates that will have earned a Ph.D. in chemistry or closely allied discipline by September 1, 2021. They must show promise for innovative teaching and will have teaching responsibilities in upper- and lower-division courses, including analytical chemistry. They will also mentor/advise undergraduate students and serve on academic committees.

In addition, the successful candidate will have our support to develop a vibrant research program, in which they will seek external funding involving undergraduate research students. Undergraduate research is a cornerstone of our department (, and we offer ACS-certified degrees and a suite of research-grade instrumentation, including a 500 MHz FT-NMR, AFM, GC/MS, HPLC, FTIR, Raman, UV/VIS, ICP-MS, GPC, glovebox, potentiostats, and a variety of computational chemistry software. Strong experience with modern analytical instrumentation is preferred.
