This includes demonstrating intent to become a CA resident during your first quarter at UCI by acquiring one of the following documents:
- CA Driver’s License/State ID: It typically takes 1-3 months to set up a DMV appointment, please schedule this right away: https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/appointments/select-appointment-type
- CA Voter Registration: You can register to vote online: https://covr.sos.ca.gov/
- CA Vehicle Registration (if applicable): The DMV typically schedules appointments 1-3 months in advance, please schedule an appointment right away: https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/appointments/select-appointment-type
Please note if you are required to file taxes you must file as a CA resident or a part-year resident.
The Department of Chemistry will not cover non-resident tuition for US citizens and permanent residents after your first year in the program. If you are denied CA residency you will be responsible for non-resident tuition, currently $5,034 a quarter.
