The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) is pleased to announce two Calls for Proposals. UCI undergraduates from all disciplines who are conducting research or creative projects under the guidance of UCI faculty are encouraged to apply for recognition and funding by May 3, 2021.

Call for Yearlong Proposal (Spring 2021-Spring 2022): 

All UCI Undergraduate Students are encouraged to explore faculty-mentored research and apply for funding by submitting a proposal. These awards are intended to be used for project supplies and expenses and typically range from $250-$1,000 per individual project, with higher amounts of up to $2,500 available for group projects. These awards are for research being carried out for up to one year (Spring 2021 through Spring 2022). 

Call for Summer Proposal (Summer 2021): 

The Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) is a research fellowship for UCI undergraduate students. It is aimed at students with some prior research experience who plan to continue an intensive, faculty-mentored research experience in Summer 2021. The fellowships are typically for 10 weeks, with a commitment of 20 hours per week. However, the total time commitment is flexible and should be appropriate for the proposed project. The award amounts are flexible and dependent on student need and the time commitment of the project. These stipends are capped at $3,000 each.

The Get Involved in Research Workshop provides information on how to get involved in research or creative projects on or off campus and is offered multiple times throughout spring quarter. The next workshop is on Wednesday, April 7, from 12:00-1:30 pm. Register for Zoom Link. 

The UROP Proposal Writing Workshop provides valuable information on how to write a research proposal. They will also discuss how UROP Advisors can assist you through the Call for Proposals process. This workshop is only offered once on Wednesday, April 14, from 3:00–5:00 pm, so make sure you take advantage of this helpful resource.  Register for Zoom Link.
