The Chemistry Department at Hofstra University invites applications for an anticipated tenure-track position in Organic Chemistry beginning September 1, 2024. Any area spanning organic chemistry will be considered. Successful candidates will be able to teach organic chemistry (lecture and lab) and will have the opportunity to teach other courses in their area of expertise. A typical teaching load alternates between 2 and 3 courses per semester. The Chemistry Department serves only undergraduate students, with small class sizes (10-20) for junior and senior majors. The Chemistry Department offers undergraduate degrees in Biochemistry and Chemistry (with ACS accreditation), as well as Forensic Science.

In addition to their teaching responsibilities, the candidate will be expected to establish a vibrant research program centered on undergraduates and seek grant funding. Intra- and extramural research collaborations are strongly encouraged. The candidate will also provide service to the department, college, and university. Experience advising and mentoring individuals from groups underrepresented in STEM fields is highly desirable.
