The Penn State Department of Chemistry is hosting a “Postdoc-to-PI Symposium” this July 9–10. We will sponsor about six current postdoctoral scholars to visit our campus where they will present their work (a public seminar on their PhD/postdoc research and a shorter, optional outline of their proposed independent work to our faculty), meet with our faculty and dean, and network over the two-day event. This symposium provides a realistic interview-style process in a low-stakes environment, and participants are given constructive feedback afterward. This is the third year we have run this program, and over half of the participants from the past two years have either started or accepted tenure-track faculty appointments. All expenses paid.
