The UCI Synthetic and Chemical Biology Club and Department of Chemistry hosted the 2nd Greater Los Angeles Area Chemical Biology Symposium on Friday, June 26. Scientists from institutes across Southern California including UCI, UCLA, UCSB, UCR, USC, Caltech, and the Claremont Colleges gathered to share their exciting new research pushing the boundaries of modern chemical biology.

“There is such an amazing collection of inspiring scientists and trainees right in our own backyard,” explained Prof. Matt Griffin, a co-organizer of the event along with Prof. Jennifer Prescher. “We are thrilled to bring together the people doing this cutting-edge research and foster new connections between local campuses.”

“This event began in 2019, and we are pleased to continue the tradition,” remarked Prescher. “Thank you to both Bio-Rad for their sponsorship as well as all the staff and students who volunteered their time to make the event such a success.”
