Professor Manabu Shiraiwa Awarded the AGU Ascent Award

Congratulations to Professor Manabu Shiraiwa who was awarded the American Geophyscial Union (AGU) Atmospheric Sciences Ascent Award. The Atmospheric Sciences Ascent Award is presented annually and recognizes excellence in research and leadership in the atmospheric and climate sciences from honorees between 8 and 20 years of receiving their Ph.D. Established in 2012, this award is given to four exceptional, mid-career scientists who are affiliated with AGU’s Atmospheric Sciences section or sub-section.

Professor Jarvo awarded the ACS Arthur C. Cope Scholar Award

Congratulations to Professor Jarvo for being awarded the Arthur C. Cope Scholar Award from the American Chemical Society! Cope Scholar Awards recognize and encourage excellence in organic chemistry. The Arthur C. Cope Scholar Awards were established in 1984 by the ACS Board of Directors, on recommendation of the ACS Division of Organic Chemistry, under the terms of the will of Arthur C. Cope.

Griffin Lab awarded a UC Cancer Research Coordinating Committee (CRCC) Faculty Seed Grant

Congratulations to the Griffin Lab on being awarded a UC Cancer Research Coordinating Committee (CRCC) Faculty Seed Grant! The UC Cancer Research Coordinating Committee (CRCC) is a systemwide, faculty-directed cancer research program that provides competitive intramural research awards for topics in any discipline that address any aspect of cancer, including its origins, detection, prevention and cure. Funding for this opportunity is provided through 33 bequests to UC for cancer research, as well as donations made through the California Cancer Research Voluntary Tax Contribution Fund.

Professor Griffin awarded Beckman Young Investigator Award

Congratulations to Professor Matt Griffin who was recently awarded the Beckman Young Investigator Award. The Beckman Young Investigator (BYI) Program provides research support to the most promising young faculty members in the early stages of their academic careers in the chemical and life sciences, particularly to foster the invention of methods, instruments and materials that will open up new avenues of research in science.
