In a recent communication in the Journal of the American Chemical Society, Prof. Liz Jarvo, graduate students Buck Taylor and Liz Swift, and postdoctoral fellow Josh Waetzig, report nickel-catalyzed stereospecific substitution reactions of ethers. These reactions have application in the synthesis of bioactive molecules, and syntheses of two such compounds are reported.
