A team of scientists including Prof Sergey Nizkorodov review how carbon can brown the color of smog.

A team of scientists including Dr. Alexander Laskin (PNNL), Dr. Julia Laskin (PNNL) and Dr. Sergey Nizkorodov (UCI) published a Chemical Reviews article on the chemistry of atmospheric "brown carbon", atmospheric aerosol contributing to the brown color of smoggy air. The authors presented a comprehensive summary of field observations, laboratory experiments, and modeling studies describing the potential effects of brown carbon on air pollution and climate.
