Electric force microscopy of pentacene transistors and scanning tunneling microscopy of hydrogen dissociation in sodium alanate

I will discuss results of scanning probe techniques applied to organic semi-conducting devices and model systems for hydrogen storage. First, electric force microscopy is applied to investigate charge traps in pentacene devices. Correlating topography with charge trap distributions and surface potential shows that the trap spatial distribution is not related to topography. Measurements of the trap dynamics support the assertion that the origin of trapping in these devices is chemical in nature.
