Research Description Physical chemistry research at UCI includes a diverse range of topics: from single molecules and nanostructures to macroscopic systems and surfaces; from ultrafast molecular dynamics, to the conformational dynamics of biomolecules, to the long term subtle changes in the composition of the earth's atmosphere. For those students who desire additional training beyond the traditional Physical Chemistry curriculum, the Chemical and Materials Physics program provides expanded course work as well as interdisciplinary research opportunities in the Department of Physics, the School of Engineering, and via industrial internships. Courses that all physical students are expected to take: Chemistry 200 Conduct of Research Chemistry 213 Chemical Kinetics Chemistry 231A Fundamentals of Quantum Mechanics Chemistry 232A Thermodynamics and Introduction to Statistical Mechanics Associated Faculty
