Professor Kenneth J. Shea to receive the Tolman Medal

Professor Kenneth J. Shea will be this year’s recipient of the Tolman Medal. “The Tolman Medal is awarded each year by the Southern California Section of the American Chemical Society in recognition of outstanding contributions to chemistry. These contributions may include achievements in fundamental studies; achievements in chemical technology; significant contributions to chemical education; or outstanding leadership in science on a national level.

Professor Arguilla named a fellow for the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry Young Observers program by the US National Committee through the National Academy of Sciences

Professor Maxx Arguilla was named as one of 10 fellows for the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry Young Observers program by the US National Committee through the National Academy of Sciences.

Ph.D. student Diana Lopez receives LEAD graduate student excellence award

Professor James Nowick selected as the recipient of the 2024 Biopolymers Murray Goodman Memorial Prize

Congratulations to Professor James Nowick on being selected as the recipient of the 2024 Biopolymers Murray Goodman Memorial Prize!  The honor recognizes Professor Nowick’s seminal contributions to biochemistry and chemical biology, elucidating fundamental interactions that govern protein structure, stability, folding and mechanisms. The award will be presented to Professor Nowick at a symposium in his honor at the ACS Fall 2025 National Meeting as part of the Division's program.
